WE LEAVE TAILS & WHY

We keep their tails because we believe they were created with purpose—every wag is a word in the language of love.

Tail Docking…When people ask why I don’t dock tails, my answer isn’t complicated.

I’ve held those babies, watched their moms care for them, and I just can’t take a whole puppy away and bring it back injured by my choice ever again. It hurts my heart — and that matters to me personally.

It isn’t a statement against breed standard, industry norm or in judgment of those who do dock.  Simply, it hurts my heart to do so.

I chose long ago that I wouldn’t dock my lambs’ tails and wouldn’t dehorn my baby goats.  It hurt my heart then too.  So, I naturally lean natural, as I believe God intended for me.  A promise made.

Annamaria’s Affirmation

Not only did we fall in love with Annamaria’s essence, but she become the inspiration and declaration behind following our heart in leaving tails on our Aussie puppies.

Annamaria was so small that docking her tail would have been an undue burden. As she grew alongside a litter of the same age with docked tails, we observed a remarkable difference in mobility and, most notably, balance. While the others were still finding their footing, Annamaria was toddling around and even prancing her little jig days before them. What stood out most was her ability to communicate with her tail…a smile on her face with a wagging flag of love.

My heart swelled with Annamaria’s affirmation that I should follow my heart and let their tails be.

Annamaria reminds us every day why we made this choice… and why we’ll keep wagging on.
