At God’s Little Aussies, our puppies are raised with intention from the very beginning.

Before personalities fully emerge, before little eyes even open wide to the world around them, we begin laying the foundation for confident, connected companions through gentle handling, thoughtful enrichment, and everyday life exposure within our home.

Our puppies are not raised apart from life —
they are raised within it.

They hear the rhythms of a home.
The sounds of conversation, laughter, daily routines, movement, and rest.
They experience gentle exposure, social interaction, new textures, and age-appropriate exploration as they grow and mature alongside us.

As families follow along with each litter, we warmly welcome early interest and encourage families to join our Puppy Watch List for puppies they feel especially drawn to. During the earliest weeks, however, our focus remains intentionally centered on raising and evaluating each puppy well rather than providing continuous individualized updates.

While color and markings are certainly part of the fun, we believe temperament, confidence, emotional steadiness, and lifestyle compatibility matter more — when choosing a lifelong companion.

As puppies mature, we spend intentional time observing their individual personalities, social tendencies, confidence levels, and energy so we can better guide families toward the right fit.

Because of this, photos, videos, and individual personality insights are shared more intentionally as puppies continue to develop — often becoming much more meaningful around the 9–12 week stage when their little personalities are more fully emerging.

This additional time allows puppies to continue building confidence, social awareness, adaptability, and readiness before joining their families.

Our goal has never been simply placing puppies quickly.

It’s thoughtfully raising companions who feel deeply connected, emotionally steady, and beautifully prepared for the homes they will one day become part of. 🤎

What the Heartmender Foundations May Include

As puppies grow and mature, their experiences gently expand through age-appropriate exposure, early learning, and everyday opportunities designed to help build confidence, adaptability, connection, and the beginnings of good companion-dog manners.  More below ⬇️

We begin where each puppy is and build from there.

Depending on age, developmental readiness, and the length of time a puppy remains with us, foundations may include:

Everyday Life & Confidence

• Gentle early handling and positive social interaction
• Exposure to everyday household sounds, movement, and routines
• Exploration of different textures, surfaces, environments, and new experiences
• Age-appropriate confidence building and problem-solving opportunities
• Introduction to toys, enrichment activities, and appropriate play
• Positive experiences with trusted adults and familiar dogs
• Car rides and, when appropriate, short outings into the world beyond our Farmstead

Early Companion Skills

• Introduction to collar and leash
• Learning to follow and engage with a person
• Early loose-leash foundations
• Introduction to sit and down
• Beginning recall — learning that coming when called is a really good thing
• Early practice maintaining attention around age-appropriate distractions
• Learning to comfortably give up a toy or valued item
• Brief periods of independence and separation from the group
• Settling and learning that quiet time is part of everyday life

Handling & Home Readiness

• Gentle grooming and brushing
• Paw, ear, mouth, and body handling
• Nail-care exposure
• Crate and settling foundations as age and our program progression allow
• Continued work toward household routines and potty-training foundations
• Learning to accept handling and attention from people other than their primary caregiver

As Puppies Stay Longer…

Our raising doesn’t simply stop because a puppy reaches a certain age.

Puppies who remain with us continue building upon their foundations as they mature. Experiences become more intentional, expectations gently progress, and individual strengths and needs help guide what comes next.

For some older puppies, this may include participation in a puppy training class or continued preparation toward skills found in recognized companion-dog programs such as AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy and Canine Good Citizen.

These programs and titles are never promised as part of a puppy’s homecoming. Age, maturity, readiness, class availability, and the timing of placement all matter.

Our goal isn’t a title or a checklist.

It’s the foundation underneath it.

Every puppy develops at their own pace, and every puppy will go home at a different point in that journey. What matters to us is that while they’re here, they continue growing, learning, experiencing life, and building skills that their family can carry forward.
