🤎 Requirements for Our Retired Adults
Every dog who has ever lived under our roof is a part of our story. They are not “inventory,” not “past program dogs,” not animals used and discarded. They are family, and they always will be.
There are rare moments when we feel, with clarity and love, that a particular dog would blossom as someone’s one-and-only — soaking up undivided attention, a quieter lifestyle, or a connection uniquely meant for them. In those moments, we honor their needs above our own.
This is our promise.
🤎 1. Heart-Led Decisions, Never Convenience
We do not retire or place an adult dog for convenience or profit. Placement only happens when we believe the dog:
✔️Needs a calmer home than a breeding program can provide
✔️Would thrive as an emotional companion to a dedicated family
✔️Shows a personality that desires being the center of someone’s world
Every decision begins and ends with the dog’s wellbeing.
🤎 2. Emotionally Thoughtful Transitions
We know these dogs deeply — their fears, joys, quirks, and comforts. Before placement, we share:
✔️Their temperament
✔️Their sensitivities and strengths
✔️Their favorite routines
✔️What kind of home would help them thrive
There are no surprises, and there is no sugarcoating. Just honesty, because the dog deserves it.
🤎 3. Transparent Fees & No-Manipulation Policies.
Any placement fee covers:
●Spay or neuter
●Updated veterinary care
●Microchip
●Transition supplies if needed
We do not use emotional marketing, “donation gimmicks,” or pressured storytelling to make a placement seem charitable.
🤎 4. We Choose Homes With Intention
A placement family must be:
●Steady
●Responsible
●Ready to give this dog their heart
●Aligned with our values
●Committed for life
We reserve the right to decline a placement if we feel the match is not in the dog’s best interest. These dogs deserve soft landings, not second attempts.
🤎 5. A Lifelong Safety Net
Every dog we place out of our program remains:
●Welcome back
●Protected
●Supported
●Never abandoned or forgotten
If at any point the family’s life circumstances change, the dog must return to us. They will always have a home with us. This is not just policy — it is a promise.
🤎 6. The Heartmender Standard
Our adult placements reflect the same heart behind everything we do:
●Compassion over convenience
●Quality over quantity
●Purpose over profit
●Stewardship over sales
We honor their beginnings and protect their future. Because once they’ve been part of our story…they will always be part of our family.

To be considered, potential homes must meet the following criteria:
🏡 Securely Fenced Yard – A fully enclosed yard is required for their safety and freedom to play.
🕰️ Home-Centered Lifestyle – Preference will be given to families where someone is home most of the day, such as retirees or those who work remotely.
👶 Adult/Teenagers-Only Homes Preferred – These dogs were not raised with children, so we are looking for homes without young kids.
🚗 Location Matters – Homes must be located in Texas, so we can remain available as a resource and support.
🚫 No Rehoming or Surrendering – These dogs may never be rehomed, surrendered to a shelter, or placed in rescue. If at any point things do not work out, they must be returned to us.
❤️ Lifetime Commitment – We are seeking stable, loving, and permanent homes who will treat these dogs as family.
📸 Updates Appreciated – Occasional photos and updates are always welcome. We love seeing our dogs thrive!
